The gardens at ‘Avonlee’ are styled with a blend of cottage flowers in a naturalistic planting setting. Once plain lawned areas, now converted into densely planted gardens for the benefit of pollinators and other local wildlife. With softened edges over winding paths, rich with billowing tussock grasses and butterfly gaura, small flowered shrubs and aromatic herbs, Avonlee has been designed to capture small vignettes at every turn.

The garden is broken up into 6 distinct areas, of which the oldest garden is the tender age of only 2.5years old; with a productive veggie patch, fruit trees, native shrubs, cottage florals and dense greenery. The newest section of the garden was only created in February this year, but eager to welcome in visitors to witness its progress.

In the centre of Maitland on a modest residential block, Avonlee has been designed as a pollinator corridor in the busy CBD. Throughout the warmer months, the garden is alive with dragonflies, praying mantis, butterflies and a plethora of bees – inspiration for the resident historical fiction author.
