We have lived here since we moved from Moree in January 1976. When we moved here, the garden had 5 roses across the front and 3 old plum trees in the back yard. The featured Swane’s Golden Pencil Pine at the front was planted in our first year here, as a 30cm plant, while the sasanqua camellias along the driveway were brought with us from Moree.
I describe the garden as a ‘Gardener’s garden’ as it contains an eclectic range of plants, including Australian natives, exotics, perennials, shrubs and trees. Numerous plants are of the ’old fashioned’ variety, rather than the current, more trendy plants. The garden has evolved in style, content and composition over the years and continues to evolve, as influenced by the seasons, availability of time, plant availability and horticultural interests. It is not a static garden. We enjoy being able to see plants from each window and door of the house as well as the different birds that visit the garden on a regular basis.
